So sad to hear this. He was truly one of the best singers ever . . . a great voice and smooth delivery.

I played in a classic country band for several years around south Mississippi, and we covered several of his songs, like Kiss an Angel Good Morning, Burgers & Fries, The Crystal Chandelier, You're My Jamaica, Is Anybody Going to San Antone, Mountain of Love, I Know One, Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger, We Could, I Don't Think She's In Love Anymore.

I understand Tom and Rolene Brumley purchased Charley's home in Branson several years ago.

RIP to a true country ground-breaker and legend.

We need to turn the TWANG up a little

It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.

They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head :)

Some of the best pieces of life are the little pieces all added up..Ron

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

Another shocking news. He was always one of my favorites. His recordings, with beautiful steel playing by Lloyd Green will always stand out as examples of how it should be done.

Plus his great band, the Pridesmen, with terrific steel player like Gene O'Neal, Joe Wright and Ronnie Miller.

RIP, Charley and Thanks for all the great music.

Charlie kept it country and used a lot of steel guitar. My kind of country entertainer. It is a sad day for country music fans.

RIP Charlie.
Prayers & Condolences to the family and to the Pridesmen. Had the honor of meeting Charlie a few short years ago. Ronnie came to our home and played one of my Buds. Also got the chance to back Dion last year. All wonderful people. Charlie will be sadly missed. A Legend in his own time.

So sad to hear of Charley Pride passing. I wore out an 8 track of his. I never got to meet him, but heard a lot of good about him. My night club playing bands covered most of his hit songs. Prayers for his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear this. Classic country music has lost another pillarstone. My prayers and condolences to all his band members, (especially Ronnie Miller) his friends and family. Rest in peace Charley, and "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" for all of us that are waiting our turn to join you.

A sad day. Can’t say more than has already been said. Prayers for the family. I was surprised at his age. Born in 1934 making him 86 years old. A great entertainer.

Charley Pride

A legend in Country music. My favorite Charley Pride song was a tear jerker entitled, "Where Do I Put Her Memory?" He was a great singer. So many have left us in the past few years. Now all we have is a memory of them. RIP Charley!

I know that we are supposed to keep it about the music here and it wasn't Charley's way to bring attention to himself. But I have to say that no-one did as much to improve race relations as Charley did by making good country music.

Glad I watched the CMA Awards this year. The segment where he received the lifetime achievement award was really touching. Sad to think that might have been where he caught the virus...

Yeah, a real shame. He was a true original, and a groundbreaker. His life was quite a story, from his baseball days, to his Army service, and his career as a singer.
He had his share of obstacles to overcome, and he did so with grace.
I'd like to mention that he treated the guys in his band extremely well... I remember hearing that he gave them all benefits like health insurance. That's rare, and worthy of some serious respect.

Thanks you Charley, for your grace, your class, your service, and your art.
May you rest in peace.

Charlie Pride is one of the reasons that a lot of us play country music. From the first time I heard him, I could hear the greatness in his heart and music and that will live on forever. I thank him for giving us all what he did. R.I.P. Mr. Pride and condolences to the family and many friends. He won't be forgotten.

I saw Charley, with Gene O'Neil on steel, back around 1970-71 at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, FL. Great show. The next day he was at a big dept. store in downtown Tampa for a meet & greet. My dad snatched one of these promo pics off of the wall and gave it to me while in line. I also got an autograph on a cassette tape of his Greatest Hits album. Very nice man. I loved his music when my friends were into Credence Clearwater Revival and others of the era.

RIP Charley Pride.
