It is with great sadness as I type this. My long time friend, Jerry "JD" Beckman, passed away Dec 6, 2020 from complications of lung cancer and a brain tumor.
I don't know any more details at this point.
Rest in Peace, my friend... _________________ My best,

JD was a good guy and great player. Been years since I’d seen him but corresponded on FB on occasion. I knew he had been hospitalized and didn’t have any details or the seriousness of health. Prayers of healing for his family. |

I've known JD since the mid '70s, playing together in the Sterling Strings. Just getting starting on PSG and to young to be playing in bars. He developed into an outstanding steelman but also very good on guitar and a fine singer. Country to the core.
So saddened by his passing. |

This is sad news...
I first met JD in Fargo maybe?I was playing with John Conlee and I think they opened for us in an atrium in a Ramada Inn,I believe...
The last time I saw him, ironically, was in my hometown of Warner Robins,Ga...I was home for Christmas and Mrs.Hinson and I went out to see if we could turn up any old friends...the first place we went, there was JD,playing with some friends of mine!
He was a long way from home...
He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. Been awhile since our paths crossed, but he could turn up anywhere....
Buddys living room, Penny Gilley Show, The Blue Ox.
JD got around for sure. A fine steel guitarist and genuinely enthusiastic about his craft.
RIP friend.
Prayers and thoughts to his family and friends.

I enjoyed watching JD when he was with The Penny Gilley Show.
He was talented steel player and a real good singer. No idea why he left.
May God Bless him. |

I am very sad to find this out. I had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with JD when we were both playing the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen MN. Our bands traded sets for about 5 weeks. He was very generous with his time and taught me a lot, especially about Buddy Emmons! He was a great musician and a great mentor. RIP brother. |
