Sho-Bud Pro-II Issue With 5th string and 10th string changes

Post by Noah Levy »

Hey all,
About 7 months ago I purchased a Sho-Bud Pro-II Custom off the forum and have been enjoying it thoroughly. However, a problem I have been encountering is as follows:
For my E9 neck, The 5th and 10th strings do not stay in tune when activated by the A pedal. When I tune at the tuning pegs, my open tuning is changed as well. Therefore, to even get it close to being in tune, I try to balance the tuning by tuning at the key head and the pegs at the same time. Sometimes, I have to lower the tuning peg and then tune at the key head (because after I adjust the pegs my open tuning will also go down). Then, I employ my little balancing tuning act, which seems unprofessional and looks dumb as hell. It is also very inefficient and the problem ends up showing up over and over which leads me to believe it is a mechanical issue. I am mechanically inept and would really like some input as to what to do about this. I have tried changing strings, but everything else is on the table. Will I have to send it in or does this sound like an easy fix to y'all?

Thanks very much,
Noah Levy

Read the sticky note at the top of the listings in this section regarding overtuning. It seems like a good first step to solving the problem.

Seems like that's it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Doug!
