Lick Library and other new arrangements for lap steel

Post by Andy Volk »

I have a new PDF folio on my site called "Lick Library". Here's one of the licks ... a behind-the-bar Country pedal steel-style bending lick on lap steel. The trick here is bending the 2nd note up 1/2 step, holding the bend, playing the 3rd note, then releasing the bend. There are all kinds of variations you can do with this. The final one is the same move as the bend on the C chord, but played as a hammer-on in the open-string position. I played this example very rubato to make sure I had the bends in tune. Enjoy!

My book of B11th arrangements is out of print for the foreseeable future, but FYI, I do have a number of recently uploaded single B11th arrangements now up on the website.
  • East of the Sun, West of the Moon
    Nuages
    Summertime
    Sand (available both B11th & D9th versions)
    Wear A Lei
    Fire and Rain
    Sweet Georgia Brown
    Blue Wind
The B11th is a really cool tuning, if you're unfamiliar with it, here's some basic info:
