I have been playing nearly every day. More gigs than I can commit to at this time. (nearly all are outside). I think things are slightly different in different parts of the US.

I am crazy busy with both live and studio work, right now. The gigs may slow down as the weather turns cooler.

Here in NC when it rains, all gigs are cancelled, the venues have to close .

I have a gig tonight but it will be cancelled due to heavy rain coming late in the day. The facilities are not allowed to have anything take place indoors so they will have to close their doors.

I haven't played a steel gig in years. However, I am always thinking that someday I'll get back in the game. In the meantime, keep learning, playing, and enjoy the instrument.

Last nights gig, after 5 songs all of a sudden, dark clouds rolled in and we got rained out, crowd ran off . ( ya think ? ) This is a repeat of the previous time we were at the same location last month.

A real bad deal for the venue reduced rate. All the patrons left when the skies opened up.

Whats really unfortunate is this venue has a real nice indoor small stage and seating for maybe 50 , which is not available . Another venue that we are on rotation at, ( or were ) not far away just closed again as they cannot survive without partons or with the NC 25% capacity law which includes staff and bands . I suspect that last nights venue will follow shortly. If both of these venus fail this will devastating to the area, both are well known, ICONIC , well respected and on any given evening are jam packed , they provide live music at least 3 nights/week. Bluegrass, Country, Blues, Rock...the whole 9 yards.

Both of these venues were expecting some formal NC relief based on existing protocols , ( all venues of course) instead the NC GOV has changed course from the protocols that he himself put in place and said everything is now in lockdown until a successful vaccine is available for everyone. A complete reversal from his own protocol orders over the last month.

Its a mess

a good friend came out last night before the rain, and was surprised " What No Emmons Steel " ?

Nope. :( Its a Tele and a Blues Jr for these small gigs, especially outdoors with any threat of rain whatsoever.

And I'm still a Steel Delinquent :( !
