I have purchased a wood finish SD10 Emmons push Pull .
I want to dismantle it and have the wood finish refurbished and re-lacquered.
My question is, Is it okay to remove the end plates?
I have been told that they should not be removed?
What should I be cautious of if I remove them?

Yes Paul, I've removed a number of them and put them back on with no problems at all.

Just remember to remove the 2 screws attaching the body to the changer endplate in the top of the endplate a few inches either side of midline from the underside- kinda hidden and hard to see~~

Whenever I remove endplates, if thecab needs work, or is going to be refinished..anything where the cabinet is gonna sit for more than a day or two; I block the cabinet to the exact dimensions as before the endplates were removed. Both ends and sometimes the middle too.
