Oh yeah; many years ago me and my wife Miss Leslie; played one of the first shows and we did a song with Bobby Flores; and so that is the song you must be talking about they use for the opener of the Show?? Cool..
I don't have that channel; cause I don't have a TV...so that's as clueless as you can get....ha...LOL.

Try plugging into your volume pedal and then never using it, if only for practice sessions. That will give your hands a chance to learn dynamics instead of relying on the pedal. In my early years I used the volume WAY too much but broke myself of the habit(mostly) by just setting my right foot on the pedal and never moving it.Dirk Edwards wrote:Tried just Twin and pedal
I dont know if i am man enough to do it on a live gig?
Only been playing about 4 years though
In certain situations I use a ton of effects but I often go bareback, sometimes going straight into the amp with no volume pedal when playing my non-pedal Fender.

Tru Country still uses the show intro you melted your strings on. Big Mamou, right?

Yeah Jim, Big Mamou. that was just a special song when me and Leslie were up there because Leslie is a fiddle player and Bobby Flores the band fiddle player that's up there and they did twin fiddles Big Mamou and of course he tossed me a solo, because Bobby's good that way cuz he plays steel guitar also.

Yes, steel, volume pedal, amp.
It’s been done for decades. You can break out the gizmo boxes , but if your amps reverb is adequate, throw and go.
You can fine tune the amps reverb with different pans , and preamp tubes.
I’d rather have less junk in my signal chain, and less to setup/tear down. Less to break, Less to lose, and less potential hassle.
Throw and go.

I normally use my NV-112, but if I'm playing a show where backline is furnished and multiple bands are rushed on and off the stage, I'll request a Twin because I know I can get what I want out of it. Since in so may rental amps, the reverb doesn't work, I'll take along a Holy Grail pedal. I like going thru the normal channel and I like the tighter sound of a Twin with one speaker disconnected.

Great post Dirk, I was just going to post the same. I’ve slowly been removing pedals as my cords get old and worn out. I’m finally down to guitar and cord into
the 135 Twin and man it really sounds good. Sparkly clean and warm.
I’m now thinking the Steel Guitar Black Box was overkill, especially with this amp. It Hasn’t been serviced in about 12 years.

Yes of course that is Lloyd Green playing on the Live from Panther Hall Charley Pride album (Hot July night in 1968), and he was playing his Sho~Bud "lightening bolt" Fingertip which I restored 10 years ago and is still being displayed in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville, TN.....go visit it.

Wow Ken that is awesome. Now with those settings; move your right hand towards your bar hand a little, to warm up your sound delivery; and also, you can move your hand right of normal to get that twanky in your face sound...ha..
And never have to touch your amp again....JUST PLAY>>>BAM !!
