Never heard of him until lately. Wow, what a singer that sounds a lot like Lefty and Merle. Hard to believe I've never know of him until lately.

Kenny
Hi Wayne- Not sure who is playing in the video clips? In the late 70’s, my friend Jerry “Hambone†Cunningham played a lot of live shows with Kenny. Not sure who may recorded with him? Bone might have? Maybe someone will know? I agree with you.. he had the Haggard style. He was quite popular in the Dallas area.

Oh wow cool
Thanks everyone for contriuting to this post.
Hi George ! Good to hear from you. Kenny really was a good singer I didn't know he was family to Merle Haggard no wonder they were so close. Love his singing and the song are really good too. The early stuff really did sound like the strangers. Bet he had some good players when he was in Texas.

Sounds like he had quite a career
I would have liked to see him perform. He passed away only a few years ago.
Earl Briggs-What an honor to play for that many years with him. Must have have been some good times. Did you play steel for him or do you remember any names ?

Kenny's band The Messenger's are Merle Haggard's 'Strangers' ie Norm Hamlet steel, Roy Nichols & Merle Haggard lead guitars, Dennis Hromek bass, Biff Adam drums, Mark Yeary piano, Bobby Wayne rhythm guitar.
Exactly what I was told years ago and suspected that before anyone told me.
After doing a little research not sure about the cousin story. Hag said Kenny sounded like Left and himself before he did. As I recall the person who told me about him being a cousin seemed reliable but don't recall who that was. I may have read it somewhere back in the 70's.
I saw Kenny Serratt and Dennis Hromek both the same night at Pearl's in Ft Worth not too long before Kenny's passing. I was always a fan of his music selection and delivery.
