Bunch of gigs just came in for me!

Post by Rich Upright »

Just got booked for the summer starting beginning of June; am booked every 1st,2nd,& 4th Saturday till New Years!
I am posting this to show that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel, there WILL be music again...as long as we keep distancing, hand washing, & staying safe! THIS was bad enough; a 2nd wave would be a disaster!

I should have been playing tonight!
Next date as things stand is at the end of June. Is it too much to hope? The worry is that the venue might not exist by then.
We haven't heard much about Florida, which suggests not too many cases, or protests!
The situation here is much clearer than in the US - no let-up till the government says so, and they aren't saying....

Great news Rich, good to see some movements musically, it’s a positive post that’s for sure. Great pic by the way!

Our best hope is an outbreak of common sense - no denial or defiance. I'll play in a mask if I have to, but then I don't do any vocals :)

Rich, sounds promising. I hope it can start again in June, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets kicked back further. We are looking at, hopefully, September to start our weekly Monday night gig.

Yea; Jack...I am a little nervous about starting back in June; I am praying there is no 2nd wave, and would not mind extending for the summer if I had to. But, social distancing IS working, & What I'm really hoping for is for the hot weather to make the virus die out, like it does for the flu.

BTW Where do you play on Mondays? Would love to come see you, short drive for me. Do you still do the jam at Catfish? Could never come because of work, but I'm retired now & have a lot of time.

Rich, we are playing (or was before the crisis) in Oxford. 6-9PM. That's 3 miles north of Bondz Music store in Wildwood. Maybe too far from Spring Hill?

I'll let you know when we start up again. We are considering September as summer is always slow anyway and by September the early snowbirds start coming back. We get a lot of the audience from The Villages since Oxford is on the west end of The Villages.

I quit the Tuesday Catfish Johnny jam shows. I did it for 13 years and was going to retire from picking before the Oxford gig came up (its been 10 years there). Fred Thompson is the steel guitar player in the Tuesday band, now.

Excellent Rich ! :D

My summer schedule, Outdoor shows is currently being re-booked as well. Our first gig is already scheduled for May 16, outdoors of course.

My 2x Month regular gig is currently being discussed as well. Once NC allows restaurants to open we are back on the 2x / month schedule again. The restaurant we play this show at has been been doing very well with take out , which is half of their typical business anyway.

Fortunately, all the gigs I have booked from here on end are outdoor beach gigs...this IS Florida, after all. Usually hate outdoor gigs, but in this case...I'll take 'em!
