It's Big E's birthday, International Pedal Steel Guitar Day

Post by Ian Worley »

January 27 is Buddy Emmons' birthday. In 2018 Mike Perlowin declared that this day should henceforth be International Pedal Steel Guitar Day: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtop ... 53#2734853

So here we are, happy International Pedal Steel Guitar Day!

Here's a little Buddy to start the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhbtOavlIgg.
Someone else will have to plan the rest of the festivities

I only remember his birthday because it is one day before mine. I sure miss the Big E and what he brought to the table. He had everything a steel player could want when it came to steel guitar.

I second that motion, Buddy was the "total package", IMO!

Big E's birthday has a reminder in my Mac calendar, as does the day he died. Both remind me what a monster talent he was, to appreciate his many contributions to our instrument, and to keep aspiring!

If you have RFD TV, Buddy plays on That Nashville Music show sometimes that's been running lately. The shows were filmed in the '70's.

I guess I missed this announcement. Here's to the master of the pedal steel guitar. Such a hole he left in our community and our lives.

I remembered Buddys birthday since it was one day before mine. Oh how I wish that we could see him play again. Love that Emmons sound.

I wrote to the President and requested that Buddy's birthday, January 27th be named National Steel Guitar Day, but haven't received a reply. (He is kinda busy...)

I suppose WE could just say it is...
My best,
Ernie
