Need help identifying a tune!

Post by Alex Formento »

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy (and indoors). I'm a beginning steel player and was wondering if someone could identify for me the tune Buddy and Hal are playing at 6:43. I've heard dozens of steel players cover it but haven't found the name. Any particular versions I should check out? Thanks!

Take Me As I Am Or Let Me Go. Big hit for Little Jimmy Dickens. Been covered many times by steelers and other artists.

Nice melody, pretty easy to play. Good practice for adding extras, etc.

In my feeble attempt at humor in my circles I call it the potato song as in Take Me As A Yam etc....

Stay safe, be well.

To have been there to witness this would have been almost unbearable for any steel player.Had the pleasure to meet both these masters, also had the pleasure to talk to Hal on several occasions.

Fond memories...Bill
