O_M_G Ross putting that on most of the guitars I've owned would be like putting Lip Stick on a Pig....Pun Intended.

Stu if you just like white fret boards on your steel you can make you one or a set easy.
I made these fret boards about 1970 and they still look good.
They were made by taking 1/8" plexiglass and cutting to match an existing fret board. Then polish the edges till they are clear and you can see through them.
Tape the new blank upside down on the existing fret board and precisely tape both edges of all frets then tape the blank complete. If you want fret markers same color as frets cut them in the tape too. Tape complete around the edge. spray paint the frets with whatever color you want the frets. Cut and spray fret markers if you want them a different color. Remove all tape. Apply tape to edge of fret board again, And spray paint the complete fret board with White. Let paint dry remove tape. Turn it ove and the paint is now under the plexiglass and protected. Attach to guitar either with double sided tape or drill matching hole and use original screws. Hope this not to long. BJ |

I like white fretboards, too... they look really cool.
But I gotta say... I taped a couple on my Sho-Bud once, and used them on a gig that had a lot of overhead stage lighting. When the lights came on, they made the strings cast shadows... lot's of 'em. It looked there was about 4 times as many strings on the neck as there really were.
I found it really disorienting. Next gig it was back to black boards. |

I had the same problem as Skip, the stage lights and wrist would shadow out the black frets and make doubles, also the glare of the white was a bit distracting, i went back to a conventional board, things might not be as bad now with LED lighting. The glare In Jims photo is an example of glare with white boards, some guys like it and some guys don't.
If you buy one Stu, place it on top the old one for a gig before taking the old one off, use a peice of tape and do a loop, use (3M automotive non marking tape) just a thought mate. _________________ A.K.A Chappy. |

Stu, I'm not sure what kind of lights they were. It was on a big stage, and I guess they were just regular fresnell's, or whatever the norm is...
Enjoying your CD, btw. And thanks again for the lindzers! |

Skip,The reason I ask is because fluorescent lights cast strange looking shadows to my eyes.let me know when you want more blinders and I'll mail some to you. _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5...
