Recording Audio from Computer (YouTube) to Zoom H4n

Post by Ron Funk »

Could someone 'refresh my memory' as to how to record YouTube AUDIO onto my Zoom H4n recorder.

I used to do that a lot for backing tracks, but it looks like my memory has failed me.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Ron

its pretty simple, maybe not considered "AUDIO PERFECT".

Also keep in mind most Audio Streams from the internet are compressed and maxed out at 16K hi freq anyway so they are not audio perfect to begin with.

Set up your Zoom in the record mode you prefer, such as 128 MP3, plug the audio output of the PC ( headphones out ) into the audio input of the Zoom. Plug the speakers or headphones into the audio OUT of the zoom. Keep the audio volume control of the PC at near 80% or so, not less, set the Zoom record level, start recording !

Just remember if your Zoom is in the Wav record mode your song files will be huge and hard to manage.

This procedure is the same for ANY recorder. Any audio coming thru or from your PC uses this procedure, not just YouTube.

Just worth saying, a Public Service Announcement, doing this may be illegal for some audio ! :D
