Post by Ricky Davis »

OMG; me and Dale were SO freakin good back then. This is from the Netherlands; LIVE....but I think he did make some kind of "For Fans Only" project out of it.....>but here it is Live, like the way we believe you can feel the Realness....

Thanks ya'll. Hey Don that Pro~II is now owned and played the heck out of by Dave Berzansky in California.
(long story short....Dave came out to a gig late 90's me Dale were playing in San Diego and he stood and stared at me play the whole night. After the show he came up and said:"Ricky I loved listening to you play so much that I want to learn how to play"... well and he did....he studied Lloyd Green and others and just became a monster steel guitarist and when my Pro II came up for sale; he got it.../BAM....well deserved and you can hear him and that Pro~II with the Hacienda Brothers.

Thank Kerry; it was fun, but hard to remember as that was 20 years ago. One cool thing is Lloyd Green got to hear me and then me and Dale twin solo on the song "Help me Merle I'm breaking out in a "Nashville Rash"...on the Live in London CD.....and I just noticed I played what he heard and commented on ; On the Video 3 as the last song at the 9:01 mark....now you can see and hear why Lloyd said this>
---------------------------
Okay I'm on Cloud 9 I have to share.
The famous Lloyd Green just heard this solo that I played and then the twin part me and Dale played together on this song Dale Watson wrote on the live in London album.
Lloyd then emailed me this:
"Damn Ricky!
I don’t know that I had ever heard the live recording of you and Dale Watson with the song, “Help Me Merle”.
That is some absolutely cool E9th playing.
Dale and you should still be together. You were on fire, man.
Nobody could have done that better. Perhaps nobody could have played it as good as you did!
Really impressive my friend.
Love ya,
Lloyd"

Ricky, that's some of my favorite music. You were on fire and it inspired me to this day. My son is a huge fan of Dale Watson and we attempt to get that righteous tone on stage. Still working at it. All my best to you. Thanks for sharing your talent and wisdom.

Hey Ricky, nice to see you playing C6 right out of the box! We always new you could, but these days you play that LDG, so we don't get to hear it much! Great stuff!
Pedal steel, lap steel, resonator, blues harp - why suck at just one instrument when you can do so on many?

Thanks Ron and thanks Douglas and yeah I used to play lots of C6 we actually cut a whole album where I played nothing but C6 tuning. it's a swing album called "one more Once More" :by Dale Watson. even cut two Frank Sinatra songs ;;one of them "I left her an Old Monterey" the other one "Dance all night" and here's one from our live album that I played on my C6 as you all know "bright lights and blonde haired women" classic Ray Price swing.
https://youtu.be/tcVeooHXId8
I don't miss playing C6 tuning, I play in a band that's pretty much classic country I love E9 tuning the best as you can tell I play an ldg now and don't look back there's so much more passion and feeling that be taken out of the E9 playing that I could never do from C6 playing, yes C6 is great for swinging, and old timey and Jazzy type stuff but to me that's just passionless.

Ooooh, Ricky! That was great.

It takes me back to that fine music of yours that made me start playing the pedal steel guitar in the mid 2000s.

Thanks for the inspiration!
