Topic: Current draw of NV400 |

Many times I've gotten up from practicing my PSG and accidentally left my amp (Nashville 400) on. It got me to thinking...does anyone know how much power this amp draws when it is on, but not being played? Just wondering.

| Peavey manual lists "Power consumption" 600 watts but it doesn't state if that is idle, full power out, etc. However, I suspect that is the full power out wattage. |

If your prone to thoughts like this, I advise you to purchase a “Kill a watt” for $20.
It’s a 120v pass through that’ll tell you the draw of anything plugged in. It’ll keep track too over time which can really add up for things like entertainment systems.
My tube amp draws .57 amp with heater elements for 5 tubes. I doubt a solid state amp would be more. So no worse than leaving on a 60w bulb.
It can draw a lot more if it’s going full 600w but that would only be a transient unless you are planning on pushing the power stage to clip with a signal generator. |

| +1 on the Kill-a-Watt recommendation. I just used mine this morning to check the current draw of a space heater. Handy little device to have around. |

| I keep a KillAWatt on my bench. All amps I repair power up thru it so so can monitor current draw. Very handy. A N400 draws around 0.31 amps as I recall. |

Thanks for the response guys. I was just curious about this since there have been times when I get called away when I'm at the guitar and don't turn it off, thinking I'll be right back to practice.
