Hi all, I’m new to the forum. I’ve been looking for a Pedal Steel locally for a while. They don’t come up too often. This one just came up and I couldn’t find a reference. Any ideas? Listing says it’s 1949. I’m trying to get more history from the seller but haven’t heard back yet. Thanks for any advice! -Joe

That's a Pierce 8 string pedal steel from the late 60's. made in Winchester Indiana
I have had one and it had a lighter duty build, good tone and a rebuilt changer, The original changer is pretty primitive.. It is not from 1949. Look at he Reverb auction link to see photo of the original changer style. Mine, and the one for sale now on Reverb, are in wonderful condition. Not sure about the one you're considering.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. The seller is likely not well informed on the instrument and is asking too much for it. Hopefully I can talk him into a good deal. I'm pretty handy, so as long as it's not completely trashed, it might be a good starter for me.
