Johnny Paycheck A-11 walk down lick

Post by Carl Kilmer »

Can anyone help me with this 5 note walk down. It's in the key of (F).
This is the track and the lick starts at 00.12.

I don't know if I'm picking the wrong strings or the wrong frets,
but I just can't get it right. Sure would appreciate any help.
Thanks to anyone who can help me on this........Carl

I tried figuring this out a week or two ago and had the damnedest time too, there’s something real tricky with this one!

To my ears, it sounded like F-E, D-Db, C. I’m not at a guitar right now to double check, but let me know how that works for you.

It sounds to me like the chords being hit are F, Bb, and C, with a quick half-step drop being added to the F and to the Bb chords, so : F-E, Bb-A, C

Here's a quick tab of what I mean:

Thanks very much Colin and Pete. I tried both and either one will work.
Now all I need to do is make these old hands move at the right tempo.
Sure do appreciate your fast and great help on this. :D "Lucky"

Carl, where are you at in “East Central IL”, exactly?

I’m in the Peoria area.
