How does one make money on the internet?

Post by Charlie McDonald »

Prompted by a news story about a young man radicalized by being lured into conspiracy theory sites sought to make money on his path to ... whatever...

... not to mention reports that Russian sources of disinformation made money in the process ... there must be millions of examples.

And there must be some connection between the outrageous and the individual who has a blog, posts a video, or some other offering.

But how is that converted into money? I'm just curious, not looking to learn how, unless somebody has a really good idea....

Since I am in dire need of money right now, I've tried to sell my body. The only "currency" that has been offered is something called a "Laff". Not sure what country that has that currency. :alien:

Youtube video are monetized via ads. Blogs can be moneitzed through ads or by collecting and selling leads.

Made a big chuck of my money from my blog over the last 10 years.

So you buy leads low and sell them high? What are leads?

Lead are: lets say you put up a blog on how to save on car insurance. You put up a link saying, "Get your best deal on car insurance by downloading our free book. just give your email address."

The email address is then sold as a lead to people selling car insurance, cars, all sorts of stuff.

I wish I could find the guy who sold the lead to all those telemarketers, who are so worried about the warranty on my car.

Perhaps the seeming point: whoever bought Rick's lead didn't make money on it.

Thank you gentlemen, and particularly Bill. There must be an easier way to make millions.

Oh, there are millions to be made in Lead Gen (which is what it is called in the industry Lead Gen stands for Lead Generation). It is a huge industry. Nearly all the "free" games and quizzes and stuff you see on the internet are tied to lead gen activities. I have friends that have made millions from Lead Gen businesses.

Just out of curiosity, about how much would you get if your YouTube video is viewed 13,000,000 times?

The fastest way to make money is to fill a page with ads, then give it a "click-bait" title and a short bullshit article. When someone clicks one of the ads, you get money in your account with the ad company. Typically you withdraw the money once a month, or they deposit it in your bank account.

You gotta be inventive with those titles. Sensational headlines involving celebs or political features get a lot of curiosity seekers. Also, LISTS. People love to read lists.

Promote your fluff ad pages on social media. There are companies that will do this for a fee. It's all about generating clicks.

Make a new page and promote it every few days. Keep them clicks coming.

Here's your titles to choose from, Charlie.

Worry about the article later.

Yeah, maybe it hasn't put you in the 10 wealthiest people in the world, but you are still here while others have come and gone trying to do what you are so successful at. That's really something to be proud of.
