Early Epiphone Electar Grande Double 8
I recently acquired this old girl from the estate of a local professional musician. I’m a long time bassist not a steel player so was wondering if any steel collectors may have an interest? I didn’t have a set price in mind. From what I can see not too many of these become available on the market. I think I could be tempted with the right vintage Fender bass in trade. Feel free to message with any questions or comments. Thanks. Joe

What a beauty that is!
What a beauty that is! I've never seen an Epiphone looking like that.
There were Gibsons done like that console but they are also rare.
Looks like it might have a built in amp, But if not I have just the right amp for sale in the amp section; https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=344109
Good luck with the sale or trade Joe!

Hi Joe: Is that a two-pronged power cord on the right end? (Players position) I think more of Forum "collector" interest potential might be better generated if the latches were undone, panel removed, and "under skirt" content revealed, if amplifier electronic components exist...as well as any pull-out ashtray? 😄 Thank you, sir!

Hello. This does have the Electar amp inside. I was gonna have the amp gone over by a local tech to make sure it’s safe.

So Interesting
Hi Joe,
So Interesting. As I suspected there is a built in amp and It has the exact same control panel as on that amp I'm selling. That seems to put it in about the years 1940 to 45?
A fabulous bit of luck for you coming into that. I love the styling from those times gone by. Also I'd bet that it is basically the same amp in a different enclosure. Should have that great 40's tone. Same amp played by Django in the 40's.
May have been built by Nathan "Nat" Daniel who went on to start the Danelectro company in 1947. As I understand it, he built all the early Epiphone amps. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Love seeing these really fantastic treasures from the past.
Best of luck on the sale or trade,
Andy
