Steel Jam OHIO

Post by Gary Preston »

. It’s been a long time since we had a Steel Guitar Jam . We would like to start doing them again . I have a real nice place to have them . It’s as big as a basketball gym . Very nice building . Good Shepherd Church is letting me use it . I was wondering who would be interested in playing and singing ? My wife is doing good now since the transplant . It’s easy to find just north of I-270 on the south side . Please let me know if you would want to be a part of this , so I can see who will support it . Music styles would be like it was at the last jams . Your input will be my inspiration to go forward with the jam . Thanks . Gary . 614-774-3109 . My cell # .

Ohio steel jams

Post by Dennis Brion »

I am just now teaching myself to play but I would attend just to hear all you other guys play. It has been a long time since I have heard live steel guitar! Since my stepdad has passed and my uncle got sick the basement jams ended. I have Rick Troyer working on my stepdad s custom built d10 guitar right now can't wait to get it back! My learning curve will be a little longer being 65 and haven't touched my six string in many years, but my desire to learn this beast is very high mainly because of who built it and my love of country pedal steel sound. I will continue to watch this post.
Thanks Dennis

I just had a pacemaker put in and I'm on Oxygen 24/7 so I'm not sure where I'll be down the road. But God willing, I would love to. Either way, I wish you the very best!

Gary, great to hear from you. What day are you thinking on for the Jam? Greg and I will make every effort to be there if is possible. He has started playing steel again with the band he is in now, of course it would also depend if they are booked.

As an added note, Greg is going to do a Buck Owens tribute show on September 14 , 2019 at the Federal Valley Resource Center in Stewart, Ohio.It is about 12 miles East of Athens. Greg will be playing lead guitar and fronting the band, not playing steel for this show. John Borchard will be holding down that job.

The jam is on , September 21 st . At Good Shepherd Community Church, 210 Obetz Rd . Columbus , Ohio 43207 . In their “ Multi Purpose “ room , I’m thinking it will seat around a thousand people or so . Hoping to have a bunch of steel players to help us out . Need some singers to help us . We have a backup band . For more information call , Gary at (614) 774-3109 . This is free to the public. The Church will be selling food , the proceeds will go to the Church .
