Love Paul Beard. I wish he had played the Josh Swift model on the tape as well. I guess this is an uodate on the old road a phonic. I had one of the originals but it never spoke to me. Wasn’t bowled over by the sound in this clip. I have always seen it as a model in search of a problem. I am actually surprise he updated it. I guess it is more popular than I thought.

I have one of the very early Roadophonics. 22 inch scale. It was useful for certain applications. The new ones are 25" scale. That will make a big difference in sustain, general feel and sound, I'm sure. The pick up options are a good idea.

The "lap steel" mode sounded like a tamed down real to me.sounded good, absolutely, but didnt sound like a lap steel. I dont see a way to get rid of the reao sound totally though.
The black one, wow! I want one so bad. I've always wanted a Jerry Douglass but this Josh Smith is now my favorite because it is so non traditional.
