Lap steel accessory ??

Post by Michael Greer »

This item came in the case with a lap steel.

Never seen this item before.

It's say D'Armond on the metal and the small plastic dial rotates

Can anyone help identify?

Thanks

Is it a stick on pick up?

I had one years ago. Its a ukulele pickup, made to be attached to the front of a uke with some kind of elastic or rubber band.

DeArmond contact pickup. Works for most acoustic instruments, not just ukelele. Has a more "acoustic" sound than magnetic pickups.

They came with an attachment bracket that fits on the little nipple, but can often be used by tucking under an instruments tailpiece instead. See, e.g., https://gypsyjazzuk.wordpress.com/gypsy ... y-pickups/

There were attachments for different instruments, e.g., guitar/uke vs. archtop instrument vs. bass fiddle. I had one I mostly used for a classical guitar, for which I thought is sounded pretty good. An idea of value here - https://reverb.com/item/15754103
