Jimmy Crawford
I was scanning old negatives and came across this one. Its from Philadelphia in '72-'73. Loretta's name is printed on the bass drum head.

I saw Loretta in '73, with Bob Hempker playing a blue mica p/p - with a jumping trout decal smack dab in the middle of the front apron. Funny, the things you remember...
I do remember him playing his tail off, though...
What strikes me about the pic above is the guitar player isn't playing a Tele, but rather a 345.

That's Bob Hempker for certain. Regarding his pinky, it is out but, his ring finger is not. Jimmie played with both pinky and ring fingers extended. Lloyd, Weldon and Herby Wallace (along with others) also employ that hand posture. The photo of Jimmie with his JCH shows this clearly.
Both great players and people, that's for sure..!! It is a cool photo too.

Attached pic was taken in Portland in 1960. It's a cropped version of a much larger group pic.
Is that Crawford in the middle with his eyes closed?
You can see Buddy Spicher, Jeanne Black, and Billy Strange nearby.
Hank Snow is in the uncropped version of this pic. It's a touring group of some type--Snow, Grandpa Jones, Hank Thompson, Merle Travis, The Crickets, Everly Brothers, etc.
When did Crawford become part of Snow's band?

The guitar player is Dave Thornhill. He was with Loretta from 1969 thru 1996. The picture that says guitar player under it is Carlton Haney, the show promoter. He must have been moving Dave’s guitar. I did three different stints with her. I was there from ‘69 thru ‘85. I done another stint from ‘92 thru ‘96, then from 2014 until she took time off to recover from a bad stroke. Jimmy was a dear friend. He was there from around ‘88 until ‘92. The “good ‘ole days.â€
