Fooch Fischetti... Thanks

Post by Ray Gehringer »

I just want to say thanks to Fooch Fischetti, a great Pedal Steel player and teacher who really is one the "good guys."

I'm a beginner who returned to PSG a couple months ago and was either confident enough or dumb enough to pick this as my reentry tune and have been using Dewitt Scott's tab.

I'm doing okay with it but really hit a few road blocks and got to thinking maybe I bit off more than I could chew BUT after a lesson with Fooch yesterday I'm feeling better and thinking maybe I did a little bit better with it than I gave myself credit for.

Just want to say thanks and send out props to Fooch.

Here is Fooch on Steel with Levon Helm on drums backing up singer/songwriter Martha Scanlan on a really nice tune she wrote called "I Don't Even Have To Ask."

Thanks Friend!

Wow; Fooch...now there's a name I haven't heard in years. I remember him from his Dixie Doughboy days.
Fooch's band & my band were once on the same gig. We decided to see who was faster...not picking, but who could break down their steels & wheel them from the stage to the load-out doors faster. He won. But...just barely!
A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag.

I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Fooch play at High falls cafe with the Bush Brothers. Awesome band and so nice to hear some pedal steel live.

I guess I've known Fooch for close to 45 yrs. Although I haven't seen him for awhile now, I can still attest to his musicianship and of how good a guy he is. It's always a pleasure to be around him.

Fooch, it'd be great to see you again soon man. Stay well..!!

Your friend,

Hi Tiny & Rich.
And if musicianship and lessons aren't enough Fooch is even kind to all the deer, gopher, chipmunks, & even the occasional bear that always seem to congregate in his back yard. Good Guy!

Hey Tiny! We do go back a long way. I just started a project with Rick Mullen just last week and we were talking about you... smiles on both our faces.

Ben, I miss hanging out with you and of course, playing with you.

Ray... looking forward to next time (and the bear hasn't been here for over a week)

Fooch: Please tell Rick I said hello. I sure enjoyed it while we were both working for "The Commander." If you can, send me his and your current phone numbers. Stay well man.

Ben: Hope you're well brother. It'd be great to see you again soon too..!!
