New Lacquer Rittenberry Prestige D-10

Post by Chuck Hamilton »

I went to the workshop of the Master, Gary Rittenberry, in Cookesville TN last week to pick up my brand new Horizontal Hillbilly Harp. The pictures don't do this guitar justice. It is astounding to look at and even better to play. Gary's workmanship is unparalleled and he is a pleasure to work with.

Thanks again to Gary (he is pictured here sitting at my guitar), and a tip of the hat to Larry Toliver and Mark Tulbert, who are my Rittenberry Buddies and have been instrumental (pardon the pun!) in getting me turned on to Rittenberry guitars and in my progress as a PSG Player (to the extent there has been any ;)

That’s an absolutely beautiful blue on that guitar, you must be thrilled.

I also want to mention that I will never call it a pedal steel guitar again, as Horizontal Hillbilly Harp is clearly the superior name!

I was at Gary approx. month ago. I went down to talk to him about the steel he`s gonna build for me, he was playing this Blue steel when I walk in I could not believe the TONE this steel had, he was only using a volume pedal and a fender steel king amp I told Gary you have a MONSTER of a steel on your hands your making. He also told me when he bought the age wood for this blue one, he bought my wood for my steel at the same time can`t wait for it to get done, I went with the old see threw dark Cherry Red sho bud color, Gary is just a flat out GREAT GUY And he`s building one of the Best steels out there. It was a real treat to meet the Man, and it was a real treat to hear him tell me some stories of the good old days your always in my Prayers Gary God Bless frank

That's a beautiful guitar!
And a great picture of Mr Rittenberry.
I was able to purchase a Kelly Green one, serial number #006 that he built.
I wish he would have signed mine.

That’s one sweet looking baby right there! Gary is one heck of a builder and nice guy! I have 2 Prestige guitars that I absolutely love. I have both of them identically setup and I believe if I were blind folded, I couldn’t tell them apart by playing them.🤠
