Post by jlsmith48 »

I have a chance to purchace a late model Lagrande II. My questin is whether it is worth 2400.00 and is it in some way better than the Lagrande III. Its 8 and 5 and in immaculate condition.I would appreciate all comments.

I have owned a Legrande II. Great guitars. $2400 is a very good price on a late model 8 & 5 in immaculate condition. If you don't buy it, somebody else will. From what I understand, the only difference between the II and the III is that the newer III model has compensators to offset the (negligible) effect of cabinet drop.

Click on "search" at the top of the page. Plug in search word "legrande" and you'll get about 140 items over the last few years, showing you how much legrandes went for, and how old they were, how many pedal/knees, etc. See for yourself if you think the price is right.
[This message was edited by Pat Burns on 29 September 2005 at 07:17 AM.]

The Emmons LeGrande II is an excellent guitar. I'd hock my wife's diamond ring for one! Image

I would sell Roger's LaGrande for that Image Image Image
But I doubt if it would bring that much, since Roger would still be attached!

I think it's definately worth the price, assuming it's in good condition.

I had a LeGrande II and it was an excellent guitar. Now have a LeGrande III. My ears are very sensitive to detuning so I prefer the Anti-tuning device on the III.

I have a couple of III's and will not part with them. Great tone and smooth playing. No problem with them staying in tune.

Pat:
The compensators have little to do with cabinet drop. The mechanisn for that is the counter force. That is the main difference between the ll and the lll.
The compensators are another add on and if my memory serves me correctly, are usually added to any string that lowers.
I do wish Emmons would supply, with a new guitar, intructions for proper setting of the above mentioned mechanism's.Just my two cent's
