I'm looking for a picture of Speedy West playing a blonde D8 Fender Dual Pro for a guy I recently met at a guitar show.
Nice guy. Has a letter from Speedy's nephew, which is shaky provenance. Needs some visual support.
Thanks on his behalf! _________________ Remington Steelmaster S8 w/ custom Steeltronics pickup. Vox MV-50 amplifier + an 1940's Oahu cab w/ 8" American Vintage speaker. J. I've never seen a pic of Speedy playing a guitar like that. Definitely shaky provenance. I vaguely remember this surfacing a few years ago when Speedy's nephew was selling it, IIRC. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Didn't Speedy briefly have a business relationship with Fender? It wouldn't be a shock if he simply sat down at someone else's guitar and they snapped a photo. There's a lot out there that has never hit the internet. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

I think Speedy actually worked for Fender, maybe in Fullerton—I’m not completely sure—but I remember Jody Carver telling me he they would play practical jokes with each other over the phone when Speedy was there. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links

I recall that Speedy's grandson was selling a Dual Pro. I do not know for a fact that the guy was who he said he was or that it was Speedy's or that Speedy played it. But it was on Ebay several times and was remarked upon here on the forum. |

Speedy told me he ran the Fender distribution center in Tulsa, Oklahoma for some years.
Sorry I don't remember the exact number of years, but that is from 1979 and my memory has faded with time.
May be wrong but I'm thinking it was at least 5 years or so...
I did have some tapes of interviews, but those were lost during one of my divorces. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html
