Mike,

So sorry to hear that you are going through this. My brother Ricky had the same thing 7 years ago, his was third stage. It was a hard journey but he is doing very well and every year is getting a clean bill of health! We will pray for a quick and easy recovery. God bless you guys!

Mike, I am glad you got through this. I has the self same thing in 2015. I had a stage 4 SCC on my right tonsil an HPV viral cancer P16+ve type. Once diagnosed, I had brilliant doctors who were very positive that we would beat this. After a tonsillectomy , I had 7 weeks of radiation 5 days per week and weekly Chemo to enhance the treatment. It wasn't too bad for the first 4 weeks but the cumulative effects kicked in towards the end of the programme and it was tough going towards the end. The 2 weeks after finishing treatment were the worst, I was absolutely stuffed. 2 years on and all clear. I have recovered 99% of my Saliva and especially my tastebuds which was a major side effect of the radiation. I lost 16 Kilos over the 7 weeks because everything including plain water tasted like S&%T. Taste is something we don't appreciate until we lose it. I hope you have had similar results and wish you and Joannie all the best and look forward to hear much more of your great picking. Kindest regards Ivan.

Hey Mike:
I'm happy to hear you're recovering and gaining ground with this affliction. Your faith and trust in our Lord is the most important part. I'm very happy to hear of that.

You will most definately be in my prayers and included in our Church prayer list as well.

Oh and... I sure enjoy your great playing whenever I get to hear you. I remember doing a show with you in the early 80s at a civic center in Maryland right after you'd gotten that red, Emmons "Original." You and it are just great my friend.

God Bless You Brother..!!

Mike, you and Joanie are a Godsend to Miss Paula and me and HE knows it! He says to let HIM take the worry and the true believer can be healed. The way you whip that red Emmons into submission, the cancer ain't got a chance!

Thank You all so very much for your kind words and prayers! I’ve always said steel players are some of the best people God put on this earth. Each of us have compassion for the other. We know that if you play one of those things, you have to have lots of patiences and a thick tongue to bite:) God Bless each and everyone of you.

I just saw your post and you will be in my prayers. A mutual friend of yours and mine just had cancer surgery at Vanderbuilt, too; J.T. Corenflos. You both are tremendous pickers, and I pray for your healing.
