Tab for The Lord Knows I'm Drinking

Post by Dawn Phillips »

I sure would like to have the tab for this song. Something close will work.

We have a local Opry style show that benefits the American Legion and I'm in the house band. I'm still a rookie. 🙂 I need all the help I can get. Sometimes I think the performers pick out songs and see just how hard of a steel part they can find.

Thanks in advance,
Dawn

Lord Knows I'm Drinking...

Cal Smith didn't use steel in his version I listened to.

If I had to play steel on it, I'd get my ideas from Mr. Mike Johnson here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4a72hJW9zw

The break he splits with the guitar player and it is really pretty short. Good luck with it.

I can take a look at the intro and a few of the fills on the original recording if that's what you're after

Jeff,

Yes... the intro and some of the fills will be great.

Thank you in advance,

ET's band has a bit different instrumental interpretation of this song. I don't like it as well but it is very interesting.

I heard Jim Loessberg play this song with Justin Trevino at a little club in Austin, they nailed it.
