Bar holders LOL

Those MF trays look OK, but none of them have a bar holder. As noted, if you clamp one on a sg leg, it will be at an angle. Laying your bar on the tray at an angle makes it likely to roll off....it doesn't appear to have a tall enough fence to prevent that. Otherwise, I don't want my expensive bars rolling around picking up debris and leaving marks.

What you have there is a plastic cup holder, to which Ross alludes, with a tray and you still don't have a bar holder

The SGN device has docks for 2 bars and your tuning wrench, besides a captive tray for your picks, is formed from a sturdy material and likely won't ever need replacing.
Yes, it is pricey, but I would not say overpriced. You get what you pay for. JMO.

Because it's steel-specific, it's going to be a smaller production run, but the costs of the molds/dies/whatever tooling is necessary will still be the same. I don't think the price is inherently excessive, even if it is well beyond what I'd pay.
Or, in one sentence, its price is silly but not rapacious.

Williams sells a bar holder for $10. It also has a spot for the Williams tuning wrench. It snaps onto a standard PSG leg. Should work on most any steel.

I'll place my bet that this was made for slide guitar players, not steel guitar players. Still overpriced.

I think it's made specifically for pedal steel--it has a place for a tuning wrench that a slide guitar player wouldn't need. But still expensive for a drink holder.

I don't know how well some of those mic stand attachments would work on a pedal steel leg.
A mic stand is vertical, a steel leg is slanted.

Another thing to consider is if the clamp opens enough to fit the leg. Every picture you see of these types of things, they mount them to the narrow tube of a mic stand. I have tried to get a good cell phone holder and the clamps are never large enough. I would think, though, that if this is actually made for steel, it would be able to fit on the leg. I would be interested if they had the same thing without the drink holder.

Here’s a piece of 2x4 drilled for the bar and wrenches, routed out for picks. Painted it black with a white top, ground down a piece of the grey PVC, drilled two holes to screw the PVC to the wood. It clamps onto the leg of my steel, doesn’t slide down the leg, and makes a convenient place for bar and picks. Just junk wood and PVC I had laying around.

I have one I made one yrs. ago similar to Bill's that I used with my keyless guitars.

Yr. ago, I made up a bunch of keyhead hangers as shown too, in various materials to sell to pickers but still have most of them. No interest anymore I guess, but those are what I still prefer and use...but no drink holder...

I modified a Gator mic stand tray. I put a wedge in so the tray would be level to the ground when connected to the angled leg.

Prices are not determined by fairness. Prices are whatever the market will bear. Is there a good reason why anyone would want a bar like that?

I wonder if a piece of PVC pipe would work as well.
