A few weeks ago I got around to cleaning the man cave and emptied out the shelves and storage cupboards.
It was a nice day outside so I thought I would line up some Rickenbacher lap steels and matching amps for a pic. I hope you enjoy.

I do not enjoy that you have stolen the sunshine from the Northern hemisphere!!!
I will be in Oz in March so will bring some English rain for you to enjoy.

Can you elaborate a bit on the sunburst Ric on the top left? |

Hi Nathan
There has been a lot of conjecture about the wooden Suburst Guitar.
Best story I heard was that it was a war time model because all the usual materials were being put to war production. I have seen the same lap steel before and the same amp but never a matched outfit like mine.
One forum member categorically said it was a fake and that Rickenbaker has never made such a thing. As I said, I have seen others. |

Hi Michael,
Any idea what kind of wood the sunburst Ric is? Is it all 1 piece, neck & body? Does it stay in tune any better than the frypans & bakelites, and how's the tone compare? |

Hi Jerry, The output lead was disintegrated the pots stuck then scratchy then the pickup was intermittent. Most of the issues have been addressed and it still sounds terrible. The amp had as many problems and now has very low output. I will find the time to load a file in the near future using the outfit then the lap steel through a quality valve amp. |
