Yep, Al Brisco is the man to contact. On the web page that Charlie shared you'll find a link for Carter Parts in the lower left corner.
Minimum order is Canadian $40. Exchange rate today makes that about $32 USD. It never hurts to have a few extra brass pull pins ("dog bones"), or barrel nuts (with socket set screws) on hand. |

If you mean taking the pull rods out (rod from the bell crank to the changer), just remove the nylon tuning nut, slide the rod back into the guitar, and pull out of guitar. Don't forget to remove the pin that the rod hooks around.
If you mean the intermediate rod that does from the lever to a bellcrank on a cross shaft, loosen the set screw on the barrel that hold the rod, push bell crank that barrel is in as far back as you can. You should be able to pull the rod out of the barrel. At the knee lever, it is very difficult (and I don't recommend trying) to remove the rod. Probably harder to reinstall. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . ABOVE ... correct
Carter rods have small hooks that connect to the very small brass "dog bones" at the bell crank. , you cannot pull these thru the changer end. It's a simple design which uses very small parts.
remove the nylon hex nut at the changer end, the rod will be free to push back and release the HOOK from the dog bone. Before pulling the rod, make sure to note the changer position , raise or lower hole.
Don't drop the brass dog bone ! Also note the position of the dog bone in the bell crank.
Some feel these are a pain to remove and re-install, once you do it a few times it's a piece of cake. They are just small and awkward to maneuver. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Richard and Tony are correct. Once you start taking one apart and see the simple process it is easy to do. When going back together and you install the nylon tuner leave some slack between it and the changer. As said above be sure what hole the rod is in the changer and pull cam. Use needle nose pliers to help put the Dog Bone in place. And as said above try not to drop, being brass a magnet will not find it for you. Good Luck, J.R.
