I am VERY interested in that CKL lever for C6 that you added. Please do, when you can, gives us photos of that.

I had NEVER thought of that. Sounds like a clever idea.

Keith,Just wondering what causes lacquer to check?is it a shrinking thing?

Usually a quick transition from cold to hot temperature. I swear in Alberta in the old days you could hear it happen when you opened a guitar case in the hall after having it in the trunk at -35.

Thought you might have had the same experience in Alaska.

Id agree that shock change in temp is usually the culprit, though I think some finishes have a propensity to do this easily based on their composition. I dont know the history of this one.

Some people think its cool. "Patina" y know.

I certainly don't think it detracts much from that beautiful guitar. Wish I needed one.

When I first saw that guitar, I thought Patrick Huey. Because that color of that guitar is the same of his guitar.

I'm sure age has a bit to do with that as well. Mine is a lacquer '95 of similar color and the colors have transitioned from bright red and natural to a gorgeous maroon and yellow and yes there is the requisite checkering in the lacquer in a few places. Junior Knight gigged with it a lot so I'm sure the temp and humidity changes had their effect as well. Bet you don't see that on those beautiful lacquer steels that are strictly stay at home steels and not subject to being drunk magnets in honky tonks lol. I'm still a huge fan of lacquer as opposed to mica...they just make more of a "I'm a hand rubbed work of art" statement to me.

Thank you, Tommy. This is a beautiful Mullen. It's still more of a red color than mine. What year was it made I wonder?
