Dobro Roller Nut

Post by Don Hayes »

I'm looking for a roller nut to fit a Gretsch Honey Dipper square neck resonator. I put a multibender on it but I have to retune often as I bend to strings around. I figured a roller nut would help. I saw HipShot makes one but their website is not working... also people mention Dick DeNeve as a possible source. Any ideas ? ....cheers

Beard Guitars sells/installs the Hipshot in kit form. I'm unsure whether they'd sell the roller nut separately.

Cool DIY job there in Bill's link Tony!

Hipshot's website has been changed somewhat, but they don't show either the Double Shot bridge, nor the roller nut now. A search for either on their site returns a blank.

Thanks Bill.... Not sure I want to spend that much time fabricating !
Erv, I'll call hipshot tomorrow, thanks for the pic, looks about like the gretsch slot size.
I have a duesenberg pamona 6 and like the benders... Even tho the upper 5th string breaks ! I started just tuning the 0.012 string to the 5th or 6th depending on the song... Same trick with the dobro... Cheers

Hey Don....a small block of aluminium, some string ball ends and a piece of thin rod (oh..and a few hours in the shed!)
