Black Diamond Strings

Post by b0b »

I've lowered the prices on Black Diamond strings for all instruments, including E9th & C6th PSG, electric & acoustic guitar, fiddle and banjo. Submit an order at www.steelguitarshopper.com/brands/Black-Diamond.html to get the new lower prices while supplies last.

Black Diamond strings

Post by Eddie Thomas »

When I was a kid, we bought them from the drugstore, $1.50 a set. The Black Diamond factory is located in Sarasota, Fl. About five years ago, a friend took me to the factory and the president gave me, a one on one tour of the factory. And a nicer bunch of people, you will never meet. From the president of the company on down. Pretty interesting operation.

I placed an order from b0b a couple days ago. I used to use them more frequently before the days of Internet & online stores. They're nickel & I like that 8)

Well, these aren't your grandfather's Black Diamonds, or the ones that Guy Clark wrote about in his song, Black Diamond Strings.

Good article here, the current owners of the brand purchased it in 2001:

b0b doesn't have them in stock here, but I wish he did - my favorite dobro strings over the past few years are the Ferrell Stowe Signature set from Black Diamond.

I wasn't aware of them, Mark. I'll see if I can get some with my next purchase order.

I've been using these lately, nice strings, glad that Ferrell's endorsed them, one of my favorite Reso players.
Banjo, Dobro, Guild D-40, Telecaster, Justice Pro Lite 3x5, BOSS Katana 100, Peavey Nashville 112 in a Tommy Huff cabinet, Spark, FreeLoader, Baby Bloomer, Peterson StroboPlus HD, Stage One VP.

I looked it up - Walmart does in fact carry online (don't know if they'll be found in your local store) a couple variations of acoustic and electric Black Diamond strings - and even a "fiddle" set - but nothing I could find for the steel guitar family of instruments.

I don't think pedal steel/lap steel/resonator guitar strings fit into the Walmart philosophy of dominating the world of retail with high volume sales.

No they don't.

If I have them in stock, I'll beat any price you find online for Black Diamond strings. It was an experiment of mine, but it turns out that steel players don't order enough strings for other instruments from the forum catalog to warrant stocking them, so I'm closing them out.
