I probably know the answer to this question, but would like to know for sure. I played with a band that runs all instruments thru their PA. My Sarno Classic doesn't have a direct out. I had a passive DI box but wasn't sure how to use it.
I think it probably goes between the Black Box and the Classic, but I wondered if could go between the Classic and the power amp. I miked the speaker to do the gig. They didn't spend any time adjusting the sound, just used the settings for their regular steel player who does run direct. Have no idea how it sounded out front. I just know I would have had no control over it if I was connected between the Black Box and the preamp. |

I'd put it between the Classic and the power amp, if you use it.
I assume you mean that the classic doesn't have an XLR out? All preamps have an output. Take the DI box off the output of the Classic, so that the board gets what you want it to sound like. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

That would be my preference, but I didn't know if the signal there would be the right strength. And yes the Classic only has one 1/4 inch phone plug output, no XLR. |

It will have a line-level output. It's meant to feed anything that can take a line-level signal, and a mixer should be capable of accepting things like keyboards and CD players. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Will try it the next time the situation presents itself. If I would have known, I'd have taken my V8 rig, which has XLR. |
