My first lap steel was a Vega like this one. The guitar's pickup was really weak and microphonic and the case smelled like a mix of gasoline and old socks. I traded it as just as soon as I could. My wife still reminds me about it because she went to all kinds of effort to get it for my birthday as a secret present.

I have just finished going through all posts again with great pleasure. Your first lap steels are interesting, bring back pleasant old memories to some of us who are older, and we can all enjoy looking at these again and again in the future. This will be a historical record that our grandchildren and others may GOOGLE one day and learn about our first lap steels, even it we fail to tell them. Photos and comments are great. We are a very diverse group. Thanks for the enjoyment.
