Hi, Does anyone know who the steel player is on Gene Watson's YouTube video of She Found The Key? |

That is Scott Sanders who played for the original Hinsons, a Southern Gospel group. Scott has also played on many sessions as well. Great steel player who many people have never heard of. |

Gene doesn't do a bad song. I think deep inside he is a steel player. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Yes, I hadn't heard of him before. Not being American, we don't get as much exposure to some of the steelers. Gene is a great singer who promotes steel guitar at every opportunity. I saw him in Ireland when he had Corky Owens in his band and they were grest. |

Gene is a down home guy and I understand is cool to work with. And of course, one of the greatest country singers of his generation.
However, I thought it strange when Scotty had him perform at one of the ISGC shows back in the '90s. Gene must have thought it was a Gene Watson show, rather than a steel show, because he never mentioned the name of his steel guitarist, Bill Dearmore. Bill is a good pal of mine and a complete monster on steel who, like Randy Beavers and a few others, can play Great American Songbook standards on the E9 tuning with all the chords and voicings one would normally expect from the C6 tuning.
He's the regular player in "The Can't Hardly Playboys," the house band at the Cotton Club in Granger TX, who hold forth every Sunday evening. When in the CenTex area they shouldn't be missed. Bill is a picker, for sure. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

The Can't Hardly Playboys are some of my oldest pals from the Centex scene, and on the rare occasion that I am asked to sit in for Bill, it's always fun and musically very hip. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
