Pennsylvania Roll Call

Post by William Gwynn »

Not many Steelers in this neck of the woods. Unless you consider the Pittsburgh Steelers. Looking for Steel Guitar Players from the Keystone State. Could you Identify yourselves?
Thanks!

Roll Call

Post by stevepo »

William,

Where are you located in Pennsylvania? I am near Clarion on I-80, just 62 miles from the Ohio line. I keep a list of thirty-six steel players, who reside across the Western PA region. Some of us gather two or three times a year at our regional steel jams.

Steve: I'm originally from Johnstown. Now living in Yorktown, VA. But we get back to J-town once or twice a year to visit relatives and friends. Would love to be able to link up with some steelers in that area when we are back there. Can you send me a copy of your list to buck4sail@aol.com ? Thanx.

Buck,

I don't have anyone on my list East or South of Greensburg, Pa. I'm arranging a Steel Jam for March to be announced soon. It would be a great opportunity to meet some of the players from Western Pa and part of neighboring Ohio.

Harry "Hap" Hatterer is in York. He doesn't post much on the forum so I'll post for him. He plays a ZB.

Harry and I were in the Sonny Lee band out of York in the mid 60's. Harry was playing a Fender 400 and I was acting like the lead guitar player. Wes Dunn was also in the band (he later had the "Keystoner's Band" also held gospel jams at his farm).

Hi Dave, I just played at the State Theatre in State College Saturday night with David Zentner. (He played bass for Johnny Paycheck a number of years, but lives in State College). I hope to meet you one of these days and get to hear you play. You have a lot of great posts here on the Forum.
