A Very Special Zumsteel SD-10

Post by Tommy Dodd »

I have decided to bring my keyless Zumsteel SD-10 to Dallas to sell. This is a very special guitar for several reasons. Number 1 of course is it was made by a superstar of builders Mr. Bruce Zumsteg. Bruce designed the tuning mechanism from scratch and it is the most positive system I've ever witnessed. The guitar tuning is rock solid and sounds...like a Zum should sound. The guitar has a 4 & 6 setup with staggered LKLs. Also, it has the "Paul Franklin" pulls on the 1st pedal. The rest of the setup is based on a typical Emmons copedent with a few "extra" pulls. It also has the anti-cabinet drop device that Bruce designed.....and it works! The front of the guitar is a unique design with a black and chrome combination. The chrome is actually a piece of steel I had chromed by a business in Atlanta that does plating on some parts for the Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The pedal bar is also chromed. The guitar is truly a one-of-a-kind guitar and sounds as good as it looks.

Here are a few pics:

I will be arriving in Dallas Thursday evening and will have the guitar at my booth.

Tommy, very nice Zum. Will you have any new CDs available this year at the booth. Purchased 2 last year. Both are excellent.

Did you fall and get a bad blow to the head or something?

Best of luck with your sale.

Hello Tommy,
What a rare beauty and built by Bruce, and you know that's quality. :whoa: Wish I were younger, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Someone is going to be real lucky to get this one.

To answer Jeff's question, the guitar was delivered to me the end of 2006. I have 3 more Zum guitars so I rotate among them so the keyless has low playing hours on it.

And no Bobby, I haven't fallen on my head. As they say, it's time to "thin out the herd". Thanks for your concern my brother.

As promised, here is the tuning chart. It is certainly a "loaded-up" guitar.

I've had several pm's about my guitar. Hopefully I've answered all your questions. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the TSGA in Dallas. And yes, the guitar is even more impressive in person.....

Is this going to be a bidding war or do you have a price that would sell

I totally forgot that I had a hard-shell cover made for this guitar. The guitar is about 2 inches more narrow than a standard D10 body and weighs only 32 pounds with this cover on it. This cover is made of the same material used for the Brand X (Steve Hinson's company) cases and covers.
