****zumsteel D-10 For Sale!!! $2900!!**** SOLD PENDING FUNDS

Post by Douglas Schuch »

Zumsteel D-10, 8x5, 1984, BLACK! Very clean!

I bought this guitar about 3 years ago and it was the first D-10 I bought and played. Based on that I have stuck with D-10’s. However, I bought a fixer-upper house about 4 months ago and I need funds to continue to improve the house. I have added several other D-10’s to collection so this one is for sale – my cash-flow issues is your gain! Many consider these early-mid-eighties Zum’s some of the finest sounding steels ever made. If I am not mistaken, Steve Fishnell still plays his ‘83 with Emmylou and others.

Edit: I forgot to mention this guitar is 1" under normal height. I played it as is (a little tight on me as I am nearly 6 feet). I can toss in a set of pedal rod extensions if someone wants - then they can either buy the extensions for the legs, or buy new legs.

At different times I have had different pedal arrangements on this guitar, but have now returned it to a fairly standard Emmons setup:

This guitar was built as 8x4. The LKV was added later using current Zumsteel parts (so while most of the guitar is "comb" style bellcranks, the vertical uses the newer bellcranks. Also, I added an additional pull on the RKR for E9 to get a feel-stop between the half and the full tone lower on string 2 - that also is as new-style Zumsteel bellcrank. I have two old style bell cranks and one pull rod not being used that I will toss into the case. BTW, there is no problem mixing and matching old and new styles on Zums.

PayPal preferred (add 3%) but will also accept checks, money orders, etc. from known forum members.

Shipping is $100 via Priority Mail to US and probably Canada (it will cost more than that to insure and ship, but I will absorb the difference) or feel free to come visit St John, Virgin Islands and fly home with your new steel!

The third pic shows some crazing of the black parts of the fretboards. I believe I have two spares I will throw in if I can locate them.

If that mug does not kill the shine, nothing will!

The case is in very good shape for being 33 years old except for the handle (see below)

The handle is a bit beat, but still works fine!

Pedal steel, lap steel, resonator, blues harp - why suck at just one instrument when you can do so on many?

I have an almost identical guitar. I play it on the road w Blake Shelton, 1984 Black Zum 9X6 D10 w 705s. It was my first guitar, and it's still my favorite. I'm very tempted to make an offer
