Good Instrumental Dobro CDs

Post by Keith Schuler »

Bluegrass is the genre of music where you will usually find the Dobro....and you usually find singers there also. But, yes, there are instrumental albums around for Dobro. Here are my 3 favorite pickers & my favorite instrumental disc for each. All of these guys possess the finest talent for the instrument.

Jerry Douglas: "Everything Is Gonna Work Out Fine"

Rob Ickes: "What It Is"

Mike Auldridge: "Mike Auldridge" (self titled)

The Dobro in most cases is a 6 stringed instrument. However, there are also some made with 8 or even more strings. Mike Auldridge put out a disc called "Eight String Swing" In my opinion, this is the best disc available for listening to instrumental dobro music. Trying to learn to play from this disc without the matching skills could be quite a frustrating chore.

I hope that one of these albums will fulfill your desires.[/u]
