Eminenece speaker vs Blacke Widow in Session 400
I need to replace the Black Widow speaker in my Session 400. How does the Eminence compare to the Black Widow? Anyone have any experience with the two.

James I had a Shallow Basket BW in my Session 400, but then went to two Rick Johnson Cabs... I put the Shallow Basket BW in one and the Eminence in the other... The Eminence may be a little warmer to my ear.

If you decide to go with a 12', the Eminence Double-T 12 is a fantastic sounding speaker for steel. It's my absolute favorite, with a really sweet upper mid that cuts, without harshness. I replaced my 15" BW 1501-4 by using this baffle converter: http://www.mojotone.com/Cabinets_x/Baff ... r-15-to-12

Umm.. Um... Eminence makes some GREAT rock 'n' roll guitar speakers... which you don't want. A LARGE part of some guitarist's sound comes from "pushing" speakers up fairly close to the blow point, it's kind of... IN HONOR(?)... of the cheap Celestion 30's that were in Marshall stacks for so many years. They blew like CRAZY but still - Jim Marshall's deals with Hendrix & Page & Clapton and all ensured that career for sure. But a lot of toney guitarists didn't like speaker barf as an integral tone source - Duane Allman used Altec-Lansings, Santana used JBL's.
Fortunately Eminence also makes what they call "woofer" or "Bass" or "PA" speakers - with 200w carrying capacity, they don't get close to that speaker-flapping howl. I've had a Beta-12A in my "little" rig for years; they have a new one listed for "pedal guitar" here too:
