My first choice is outdoors in a clearing with a nearby forest and my amp on 10..if that's not available, I have a Holy Grail in my gig bag in case I ever need itDustin Rhodes wrote:Standard chip based delay and reverbs like a million other people are offering. He's repackaging broken versions of the circuit and selling them as different sounds. If I wanted good reverb algo's I'd go with a Boss, Digitech (lexicon), TC, or Eventide.

Although BOSS was for a few decades one of the standards of reliability AND tone, the "tone" side of things has taken a rather drastic uptick in the last decade or so. I don't know specifically WHAT they're doing, but I would add Pigtronix and subtract BOSS from the above list and I've come to EXPECT ear-tickling wonders. Somewhere around 2004-2005 it seemed like there was a breakthrough or at least a newer approach to eliminating icky solid-state distortion and as this spreads, ALL SORTS of delays and phase/rotary/shorttime mods and yes, overdrive pedals benefit. Overdriving the dingus they want and not the dingus they don't? Guitarists like Oz Noy, Julien Kasper, Michael Landau, Eric Johnson are now doing LIVE what used to be only available via studio trickery. Irritatingly, they CAN also play three chords on an acoustic and kick your ass too... Oz Noy approaches Groucho Marx, IMO (and/or Harpo).Boss, Digitech (lexicon), TC, or Eventide
