I presently play a Legrande 2, and I lower 5 and 10 on my vertical knee a half tone. I want to lower these B's to an A. What is the best route to take, and will there be a problem with too much travel on that knee? Thank's guys!

I do it on my early LII's.The knee will be stiff,or too stiff for me if you don't increase the travel. On the early LII's the vertical knees would adjust to drop down to touch the top of most folks legs.On later models they did away with that adjustment which I think was a bad idea.I also take as much tension off the lower return springs as I can get away with. This makes for softer lowers. But that's a whole other thread in itself.Regards....bb

I do it on pedal 1 with s6 to F#
I moved ABC over to 2 3 4 and really like it like this.
I have thought about splitting off the F#, but can't think where, so it stays.

I also lower to Bb on a vertical, I supose a half stop mechanism would work.
But I think it would be rather impreceice on a vertical too much leg movement to really feel the half stop.

Eddie, consider dropping string 10 only and using pedal C for that.
Works for me.

Eddie if you want the B to A change there. You have two choices. You can leave the rods in the same bellcrank holes it left the factory with.If it hasn't already been changed. And then increase the knee lever travel. This will not work well unless your guitar has an adjustment to let the knee drop closer to your knee. The early Legrandes had this adjustment the later models I've seen do not.

Or you can raise the rods higher in the bellcranks and leave the knee travel set as it is.However this knee will be stiff even if you back off the lower return springs as much possiable. If you get them too loose the lowered strings will not return firm against the stop. Also they,(the springs) will give when you raise these strings causing your raises to be flat.I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain.Regards Bobby
