Allegra Broughton of Solid Air is one of my favorite songwriters. I got her permission to cover "Glorious Bird" as a pedal steel instrumental. This was played on a Desert Rose S-8 (tuned to D6). The acoustic steel is my Harmony Stella.

Stan Heintz played the rhythm guitar, and Oscar Calderon played percussion. It was recorded in my home studio (Roland VS-1880). The steel went through a Line 6 Pod XT on its way to the recorder (no amp).

That was fantastic bOb! You got such an identifiable sound on your steel.
And the overall fidelity fits the song perfectly. Really nice.

This is beautiful. The fidelity, as Daniel said, and spaciousness complement the song, and Stella sounds great.

Very nice steel sounds!
The DR has a clear output and great string separation.
What PU are you using b0b?
Your playing is great with good support musicians.

It's a Wallace Truetone single coil pickup. Very low impedance since it's only 8 strings. I have a couple of them in the parts drawer if you're interested, Roy.

Thank you for the offer b0b. I am not in need for one right now or I would snap it up.
You do a great job with this Forum. It has been a big part of my musical life. Must be at least 20 years now?
Sorry to get off track.

Bump for those who haven't heard it.

I think this instrumental shatters the myth that a 6th tuning is only for jazz and swing. I don't actually remember tracking it (I have CRS), and it's hard even for me to tell that this wasn't played on E9th. Only the resonance at the 12th fret gives it away as D6th.

This recording is being used as background in a local radio ad for the Sonoma County Covers Project. I'm very proud of it. Mr. Green

Nice Bob, good tone. My friend Larry Petre plays A6th on his back neck.
