The link shows that the domain name needs to be renewed.
Steve is this something you can do?
Is it costly to make all of these tabs available again?

Mick Deacy's dead link

Post by steve takacs »

Sorry guys, I can't do anything about the link that shows the domain name being renewed.. It was Mick Deacy who posted all these songs. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him to see if he would renew the domain name? I surely would not mind paying something for this. If a few of us chipped in we might be able to have access to all this wonderful material

From what I understand, Mick is not playing much, if any pedal steel these days choosing to concentrate of piano I think it was. Thanks, stevet

I would be willing to host the collection on my band's website if Mick would share them with me.

Some of what's on the web stays there - but it can be a bit tricky to navigate. For those of you that are comfortable searching an archive you can use this link to get to copies of the (removed bad site)website where these tabs were originally posted:
(Don't go to the dunfrettin.com site - it will try to infect your computer)

http://web.archive.org/web/*/dunfrettin.com

It looks like only a few of the tabs are available on these snapshots but some are. I don't think any of the MP3's are available. Different dates might have different tabs available.

I wrote to mickyd regarding reviving his old site

Post by steve takacs »

Guys,
I wrote to mickyd by Forum email and PM so I hope he receives one of the communications. I mentioned there was strong interest from members in reviving the site and some of us would help in terms of hosting and expanding the old site.

Fingers crossed that he will get the messages and respond in the affirmative.

I also sent him this URL expressing interest in reviving his old site, so it might not hurt to keep that thread growing by more members expressing their interest.

Adios for now,
stevet

Good news from Mickd

Post by steve takacs »

Mick wrote back immediately here is what he said:

"If anyone wants to rehost what they can find on archives thats certainly ok by me."

So, if someone like Kevin Raymer offers to re-host the old material on Mick's site, those of us who copied some of Mick's song files can send them your way. Back in China, I'm sure I have tab for a number of these songs. Can't remember if I had MP3 files. I should return to Beijing in three weeks.

Mick did not say this but I suggest we still call the site something like " Mickyd's former E9 and C6 song file site" This is a generous contribution indeed by Mick.

This would be a real gold mine to Forum members.

Could the material simply be made available through a shared folder on Dropbox? No hosting or hassles required that way way, I would think.

Folks; I removed all the links to the dunfrettin sites; it's bad...so don't put the site up as a link with world/wide/web in front and dot com behind....

Ricky,
I think Micky's idea was if some of the members have copies of these songs, they could be sent to a person like Kevin willing to create a new site which includes them. I know I have several of these songs myself and can access them in about three weeks.

Alternatively, perhaps John's idea of the Dropbox could be used. Seems to me these are safe ways to resurrect Mickyd's material.

I'm not suggesting clicking on the old dunnefretin.com sites. Thanks, stevet
