I was griping a while back about playing on a dark stage. Be careful what you wish for. Lol
I think I should wear sunglasses. I can see the shadow of the strings more than I can see the string itself.

Wait till you play under those multicolored lights that flash red blue and white, the fret markers jump around and change colors........ Its really weird.

I got a can of spray matte finish and it helped a lot.

Be glad the fretboard's black. I once did a set on a steel with white fretboards, and the stage lights made me think I was having an acid flashback...

One builder made black fretboards screened with the bare aluminum for the fret lines. They worked fine until I had an outdoor gig at night. The aluminum reflected the black sky and the frets disappeared!

my first emmons had the gloss black with polished steel lines. i loved it.
i've heard alot of players complain about them, but i think they were the best looking.
i don't really look at the fretboard consciously.
