.....I plumb mashed them right the heck OFF!!
Although part of me suspects my wife snuck down and sabotaged it, to stop that infernal, annoying whining and crying sound (meaning me, not the steel!)
Luckily, Doug Earnest from Stage One is just about the BEST at customer service I've ever encountered. Even though I didn't buy the steel new from him, he's been a gem helping with a few minor issues, including this one. Apparently someone along the way stripped the allen nut spacers that hold the pedals on. Surprised the hell out of me when the whole pedal unit flew apart at practice, I'll tell you! Doug very graciously talked me through it and generously sent me the parts I need to fix it. What a guy!
......and here I thought I'd have an excuse not to bring it to my gig on Saturday and embarrass myself yet again. Oh well......

It's either the wife, or you have to stop eating Wheaties before you play. But, I would bet a nickel on the wife theory. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . i don't understand how that is even possible.
most steels have a secured axle that goes through
the pedal. how can the whole thing fall apart? |

It looks like the block holding the right end of the axle onto the pedal bar came out. I've had my Zum 25 years and it's never even loosened. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

The set screws hold the shaft in place. If they loosen up then the axle can work its way out of the brackets that mount to the pedal rack.
It's a different pedal rack design than the pro Zums. This is the second incident out of nearly 1200 guitars. |

one drop of loctite will stop the problem.
2 of 1200 is a super record on anything on a pedal steel. |

And I never liked the term "mashing" as it pertains to the select and intricate use of them while playing. |
