Dennis Brown from 2Ds Guitars has built me a new lap steel and here it is! It's a 24" scale with two P90 pickups. It's mountable to an SD-10 body in place of the pad or can be used as a true lap steel. This thing sounds awesome!

Thanks for posting this Gaylon.
With a "LOT OF HELP" from Gaylon, this turned into a great new product for the 2dsguitar family. Gaylon choose the 24" scale and P90 pickups. Hopefully sound samples or a video will be coming soon. The "Heavy G" name is from Gaylon's nick name heavy G. It just seems to fit. There is no way I could thank Gaylon enough for his support and kindness. www.2dsguitars.com

Hello Rick.
It attaches with 4 round head screws. Two through the bridge and two at the end of the head stock. You can see the two at the bridge. It can also be hardwired to your pedal steel to eliminate the 2- 1/4" jacks on the end. I'll post more photos soon.
Also has a A/B switch, (steel to simulator) and a pickup selection switch. ( neck pickup, bridge pickup or both)

This is great! I've been thinking about this very thing myself since I go back and forth between pedal and lap steel. I'm currently using my C6 neck without pedals and switch over to lap steel for blues and rock stuff. But what I really want is all three on one guitar so I can have a six string G tuning, an eight string neck in the middle with A6 and for the front neck a standard E9 pedal neck.

Ron, could build a double neck 8 and 6 stand alone on legs. Then you have it all. E9,C6,A6 8 string, G 6 string.

Hello Tom. No notice of change by anyone. E9 sounds great. Should be less than adding a C6 I would think.

This is great ! I was just thinking of this design yesterday, and wondering if anyone has this type of setup.I play a Peavey Powerslide on a few songs, and it's a little difficult to fit it on my lap while sitting at my steel.I do play it standing up also,so I don't want to buy a different lap steel.Anyway, this is the perfect solution for my situation. So glad you posted this ! Awesome !

if you have a c6 neck and don't use the pedals.
it's a non-pedal steel. you can set it up in any tuning with as many strings as 10 to your liking.
much cheaper and smarter than butchering/building some hybrid strange thing that has less potential.
much cheaper and easier than the alternative here which seems to me to be to cover up someone's insecurity on learning the c6 neck.
why not just use your c6 neck a little at a time,
gradually working your way up to becoming a double neck player?

Chris, the purpose of our guitars give another choice rather than C6.
It's a different feel, flavor and tone.

I'm sure that the pickups sound very different from a C6 pedal pickup, Chris. Listened to any top 40 country in the past 20 years? The 6-string slide guitar sound is all over the place. It's good to be able to get that sound from the steel chair when you need it.
